This landmark scheme for Thirteen Group, involved the internal and external refurbishment of three identical tower blocks located close to Billingham Town centre. Originally built in the 1960′s, the blocks retained much of their architectural character with some carefully considered enhancements including the infill of the under croft and replacement of the concrete roof top drying area to provide new accommodation providing an interesting silhouette. The staggered concrete projecting balconies were replaced with fully glazed bays and new windows, combined with an external insulated render finish which improves the thermal performance of the buildings generally. The introduction of new ground floor entrances and communal facilities are supported by concierge controlled access for residents to the three blocks. The external environment has been enhanced with remodelled communal gardens and secure parking areas.
